Oliver is a black lab who suffered a Fibrocartilaginous Embolism (or FCE) on January 14, 2009 at 2.5 years old.   The stroke came on without warning after a normal game of fetch.  Oliver immediately lost the use of his right leg, and shortly thereafter, his left leg and tail.

After a nearly a month of paralysis to his hind quarters Oliver is getting around just fine thanks  to  hydrotherapy as well as physical therapy exercises and stretching.  He is able to play fetch in the back yard, take walks with the family and even climb the stairs on his own.

On October 30, 2009 Oliver was diagnosed with high-grade malignant lymphoma.  Oliver is still very active and he is getting lots of love, belly rubs and all the treats he can eat.
